“Scoby” is an acronym for “Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast”, in other words - it is the living "mama" culture that will transform sweet tea into tangy, fizzy kombucha.
This culture has been around for more than 3000+ years, and it's popularity has spread all over the world.
You can make your own kombucha at home!
You will need a scoby AND starter liquid.
The amount of starter liquid you get - shall allow you to start fermenting 5x volume of kombucha. Meaning, for the first few batches - your starter is 20 % of the total volume of your fermentation.
Check out our blog for directions, and tips on how to ferment at home
You will be receiving your scoby and starter liquid in a closed glass jar. It is closed for the transportation purposes only and you shall open it and let it breath as soon as you receive it. (Make sure to keep it covered with a clean cotton fabric to keep fruit flies or any other curious flies away.
Or, place it closed into the refrigerator if you will not be getting to make your kombucha batch within day or 2.
